My favorite characters from the story is Derrick Thompson, mostly because I personally love boxing. I also like Derrick’s character the most, because perseverance for becoming the best boxer in Jamaica and the will he had to end with the corruption and the segregation inside the garrisons community’s. 2.        2.                                                            1- Who is your favorite character from the story and what kind of background do they come from? Why? (Use examples from Michelle Cliff's essay, If I Could Write This in Fire, I Would Write This in Fire) I think my favorite character from the story is Lorraine because I really like how she develops real feelings for Larissa, although of the difference that exists between their social classes. In the story, Lorraine comes from a white-light skinned middle-class, and Larissa work for their family as a maid.
